VAT Returns

VAT returns completed on time, every time

VAT Returns

VAT registered companies must submit a VAT return to HMRC every three months.
Your VAT return calculates the amount of tax you must pay on sales, less the amount of tax you can claim back on qualifying purchases. Submissions must be made in real time via the online portal and strict submission and payment deadlines apply.

Let us take the stress out of VAT returns. We can simply help you prepare your VAT returns for you to submit or prepare and file them on your behalf. We’ll also take the lead on any correspondence with HMRC – that’s one less thing to worry about!

An add-on to our bookkeeping service

VAT returns are a natural outcome of our bookkeeping service. When your quarterly books are complete, we’ll use the information to prepare your VAT return for the same time period. This includes working out what you owe or are owed by HMRC.

Before submitting the data, we check and double check that all information being supplied to HMRC is factual and correct. We talk you through our calculations to ensure you are happy they are accurate. Where possible, we’ll help you to identify VAT efficiencies and find ways to make VAT bills and payments are manageable.

If your business is winding down or downsizing, we also deal with final VAT returns due when you cancel your VAT registration. New clients may qualify for a free of charge review of your VAT returns. Please contact us to find out more.

You must register for VAT if your taxable turnover is above £85,000 (or you know that it will) in any one financial year.

VAT returns are normally submitted every 3 months and within 5 weeks after the VAT quarter period end. You also have the same amount of time in which to pay.
