Individual and business tax planning, advice and assessments

Taxation

Working out your individual and business tax liabilities can be a complex and overwhelming task. As an independent and impartial tax advisor, we’ll ensure you fulfil all your tax obligations on time, every time.

Whether you need help with a personal self-assessment or corporation tax, our service is clear and transparent. We’ll prepare your return, explain how we reached the figures and how much tax you or your business owes. Once we’ve received your approval, we’ll submit your return to HMRC online and provide you with proof of submission.

Business tax support

When you become a company director, you automatically take on a number of legal obligations and responsibilities. One of these is to ensure your business submits an annual corporation tax return. Corporation tax is a tax on business trading profits and is payable by all limited companies. Submissions are made to HMRC online, which we can do on your behalf.

If you appoint us to do your business accounting, we automatically calculate how much corporation tax your business is liable to pay. This is part of the year-end accounting process and draft accounts discussion. As an added-value payroll service we can also produce a P11D summary of benefits in kind and full explanation of any tax implications for your business.

Help with personal self assessments

If you’re self-employed or a partner in a company you must submit an annual self assessment to HMRC. If you receive untaxed income from dividends, property or other business interests, you may also be liable to complete a self assessment tax return. Please contact us if you are unsure about your personal tax liability.

For all self assessments, we’ll complete the documentation, calculate your personal tax liability and, once you’re happy it’s accurate, submit to HMRC on your behalf. All you have to do is pass us the required documents and we’ll do the rest.

Benefits of using a tax accountant

  • Save time, money and energy searching through documents.
  • Ensure you and your business are fully compliant with your tax obligations.
  • Expert checks give you peace of mind that the data submitted is correct.
  • We ensure you meet submission deadlines and avoid any HMRC fines.
  • Our accountants calculate and submit online returns on your behalf.
  • Clear and transparent – we discuss every calculation with you before submitting your return to HMRC.

Common taxation questions

Firstly we’ll need your National Insurance number and your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number (usually found on any letters from HMRC). Add to this any accounts, invoices, receipts or other records of income, records of expenses and charitable or pension contributions and your most recent P60 and/or P45 forms.

If we’re responsible for your business accounting, it’s likely we’ll have all the documentation and data we need to complete your tax return.

HMRC impose heavy fines for not meeting submission deadlines. The best way to avoid these is to appoint a tax accountant that will stay on top of deadlines and submissions for you.
